John and Susan Crawford began performing music together over 27 years ago, while they were in college. John plays piano, and Susan is the vocalist; singing standard jazz tunes many people will recognize. In addition to piano and vocals, the group includes Ken Fabis on saxophone, Mike Gudbaur on bass and Randy Maio on drums. The band plays primarily in southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, at restaurants and jazz clubs, as well as events such as wedding receptions, parties, and fund raisers. Their second CD titled “It’s About Time”, was nominated in 2007 for a WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) Award. For the third year in a row, the John Crawford Jazz Band has been asked to be the first band to perform for the outdoor Twilight Jazz Series, which begins on June 10th at Anderson Arts Center in Kenosha. The lakefront of Lake Michigan is a beautiful venue where music lovers of all ages can bring their lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of jazz. Throughout the years, John’s father, Dr. Robert Crawford (a.k.a. “Montana Bob”), has made special guest appearances with the group. It is always a treat when “Montana Bob” is available to sit-in for a few tunes! | | | | | | John Crawford Jazz Band - In The News | | | Posted: Summer, 2008
